The
Mitchell Center was the second ever LEED (Leadership in Energy &
Environmental Design) certified project in the state. The
construction of the Mitchell Center is a testament to responsible
building practices. Most notable, ninety percent of waste
was
diverted from landfills and into such re-uses as being recycled
into
the Portland Jetport runway expansion. The US Green Building
Council
noted that Wright-Ryan received the honor of "exemplary waste
management".
Wright- Ryan's Millwork Division also
contributed to
the success of this project by designing and constructing LEED
certified cabinetry, millwork, lecture room paneling and desks. They
also fabricated a 5'x18' conference room table for the room that has
been named for Wright-Ryan.
