PORTLAND UROLOGIC ASSOCIATES MOVE TO REDEVELOPED YOUTH CENTER
(SOUTH PORTLAND) - The dedication and grand opening for Portland Urologic
Associates was a success. The "castle" that is now home to the
medical offices was once the site of the Youth Center for troubled
boys. The building, originally built in 1851, underwent a renovation
process that included assembly of lead lined x-ray rooms, examination
rooms, and comfortable waiting areas.
Most recently, 66 housing units, named
Brickhill Townhouses, were developed by Richard Berman of Portland
and
were designed by Winton Scott Architects, also of Portland.
Currently, five existing brick cottages on the former Youth Center
campus are being renovated into 43 mixed-market rate apartments. Once
complete the former Youth Center Campus will be transformed from an
abandoned set of buildings into more than 300 housing units and
commercial space.
