Wright-Ryan Professional Attains National LEED
Accreditation
(Portland)- Bill Rowles, of Wright-Ryan Construction, recently
completed the LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design)
accreditation exam administered by the U.S. Green Building Council
based in Washington, D.C. Bill joins 114 other individuals in the
architecture, design, engineering and construction professions as
having attained LEED Accredited status in the State of Maine. The
exam, with an hour and 45 minute time restriction, is comprised of 73
questions addressing a variety of information within four categories
including knowledge, coordination, implementation and verification
standards. LEED Accredited Professionals offer the project team an
advantage in the processes involved with attaining the LEED Certified
status of a building. The purpose of the exam is to ensure that the
candidate possesses the practical understanding of what the LEED
program has set out to achieve.
The LEED program is committed to establishing a common standard of
measurement in the building industry based upon scientific standards.
LEED emphasizes state of the art strategies for sustainable site
development, water and energy efficiency, materials selection and
indoor environmental quality. With the intent to transform the
building market and raise awareness among designers, builders and
consumers, the program promotes a fully integrated team approach to
the building process.
Wright-Ryan was
recently the Construction Manager for the LEED Certified Science &
Technology Center at the University of Southern Maine, Gorham campus.
This project is only the second building to achieve LEED Certification
in the State of Maine, the first being a weather station in Caribou.
