HARLOW BUILDING DEDICATION RECOGNIZED BY GOVERNORS OFFICE
(AUGUSTA) – The dedication and homecoming was
well attended yesterday morning at the Maine Department of
Conservation’s Harlow Building. The building underwent a historical
restoration and renovation process that required Winton Scott
Architects, of Portland and Wright-Ryan Construction, also of
Portland, to receive approval for exterior work from the Maine
Historic Preservation Commission. This was necessary because the
building was constructed in 1879 and is listed on the National
Register of Historic Places.
Jane Lincoln, Chief of Staff from the
Governor’s Office, was present to offer appreciations and cut the
ceremonial ribbon. In addition to the Chief of Staff, Patrick McGowan
the Commissioner of the Department of Conservation and Elaine Clark,
the Director of the Bureau of General Services for the State of Maine
were present to distribute accolades. Recognition was given to
several organizations including Winton Scott Architects, Wright-Ryan
Construction, Heritage Company for restoring the copper on the roof
and Architectural Skylight for supplying the self-supported glass
system.
