Thomas B. Wright
The founder of a general contracting business in 1973, Tom has more than thirty years of experience in managing all phases of commercial and residential construction. With John Ryan, he co-founded Wright-Ryan Construction, Inc., in 1984. He has a B.S. in Manufacturing and Construction from the University of Southern Maine (1978). He has served as a Technical Consultant for the City of Portland, the Portland Observatory, Deering Oaks Pavilion and the Maine Historical Society. He has served as a Trustee of Catherine Morrill Day Care and the South Freeport Church, and as president of the Cliff Island Community Association. He is a Mentor / Facilitator for the Jumpstart Youth Program and the Rebound Program for Youths in Drug Court. Tom also is a Construction Mission Leader to the Good Samaritan Hospital, at LaRomana, in the Dominican Republic.
John W. Ryan
A co-owner of the firm since 1984, John is a Professional Engineer, Maine PE No. 4936. He has more than twenty years experience in the executive management of engineering and construction projects. Prior to starting Wright-Ryan Construction, Inc., John was Vice President of Engineering at Wiswell, Inc., in Southport, CT. There, he gained extensive experience in bridge, dam, pier, pipeline and oil platform construction and repair. His clients included Sun Oil Company, Bethlehem Steel, U.S. Navy, Philadelphia Electric, Todd Shipyards, and the New York State Department of Transportation. John holds a B.S. degree in History from the University of Oregon (1976) and a B.S. in Civil Engineering from the University of Washington (1979). John has served on building committees for several non-profits, including the team assembled to guide the restoration of the Portland observatory, and is currently working with Youth Alternatives for the construction of a new Family Center.
