About

Portland Community Squash is more than an athletic facility; it’s a community hub that brings people together through sport, education, and connection. Wright-Ryan has been proud to partner with the organization across multiple phases of construction, helping transform and expand their building to better serve the growing needs of members and the wider community.

Phase 1: Renovation

Wright-Ryan’s first project with Portland Community Squash focused on revitalizing the existing structure to create Maine’s only public regulation-sized squash courts. The work included both interior and exterior upgrades, with courts imported from Germany, along with new seating and classroom space. Completed on schedule, this phase laid the groundwork for future growth and a lasting partnership.

Phase 2: Expansion

Several years later, Wright-Ryan returned to deliver a major expansion. Phase 2 added two new building wings, one featuring three additional squash courts and another with community gathering space and a café. Renovations to the existing facility included new offices, upgraded bathrooms, and a complete electrical and mechanical systems overhaul, ensuring the building could meet the needs of members for years to come.
