About

This transformative 61,000-square-foot renovation and addition project created a new boutique hotel on the University of Maine campus. The scope included the full renovation of two historic buildings, Holmes and Coburn Halls, and the construction of Polaris Hall, a new addition that expanded the University’s hospitality offerings. The completed facility features 95 guest and extended-stay rooms, a bistro, meeting spaces, and a fitness center. Conveniently located on campus, the hotel now offers visiting families and guests direct access to University events and activities. Advanced framing techniques helped accelerate the construction schedule, delivering high-quality results while meeting tight deadlines.

Historic

The renovation of the 1880s-era Holmes and Coburn Halls required careful attention to detail to preserve their historic character while transforming them for modern use. The structures were restored in compliance with Historic Preservation Tax Credit requirements, with original architectural elements maintained or thoughtfully replicated.
