Group Main Stream Breaks Ground in Portland

June 3, 2013

Portland – A groundbreaking ceremony was held last Friday May 24th for a new Group Main Stream (GMS) residential home at Westminster Street in Portland. The ceremony included remarks by Ann-Marie Mayberry, Executive Director of GMS, Evan Carroll, Bild Architecture, Don Peterson, Owner’s Representative, John Ryan, Wright-Ryan Construction and GMS Board President David Herzer.

The building is a shared living home with bedrooms and common kitchen and dining areas.  It is a prototype for future properties.  The new space will allow GMS to provide more effective care and services for their consumers.  For over 30 years, GMS has provided residential group homes tailored to meet individual needs.

“A lot of thought went into the design and use of the property.  It will allow GMS to provide lasting, personal, and effective services,” remarked Rob Barrett, the project manager at Wright-Ryan Construction.  “I am proud to be working on this project and also in the neighborhood where I attended high school.  It’s nice to see an organization adding to the community.”

“It takes an organization full of devoted, inspired and proactive people to even consider a new construction project like this. I am proud to be part of the GMS team along with Don Peterson and Wright Ryan Construction. I think that everyone on the team understands the mission: to provide quality living for people who truly deserve and need it,” commented project architect Evan Carroll of Bild Architecture.
